A Floating Community Pier in West Seattle
Made from the Old 520 Floating Bridge?

Even though West Seattle is surrounded by water, residents today have very little access to Puget Sound. There are simply no safe places where people can board private boats in West Seattle. If you don't own a trailerable boat or don't know how to use a kayak, you have no local access to the sea at all.

West Seattle was once a paradise for small boating activities like sailing, fishing and cruising. Today, the nearest public boat docks are many miles away.

As road congestion continues to worsen, water transportation is becoming an increasingly viable option for moving people and goods around the Puget Sound region. Community docks provide a vital connection to the maritime environment. Water transportation is inexpensive compared to the construction of new bridges, tunnels and roadways.
